These jigsaws are the perfect tool for teaching your children about quarters or fourths. They are fun, interactive and really engaged my children. I used these jigsaws as part of math rotations and maths play but they could also be used as a cut and stick activity individually if desired. In this resource, you will find four different jigsaws each with the numerical fraction in the middle which the children surround with three coloured shape representations and the written word. How can this resource be used? These Subtraction within 10 jigsaws (6 jigsaws included) are ideal for maths centres, play rotations and even as a cut and stick assessment tool. Simply print and cut them out and allow the children to choose a subtraction sum, answer it and find the matching cross. Practising subtraction can sometimes be dull but these jigsaws are fun, engaging and allow learners to work independently or in small groups either with or without teacher support. It is a really easy game that children love which can be used time and time again as part of maths centres, as part of a play rotation and as a starter or finisher task. I simply call out a day of the week and ask for the day before or after to be crossed out. For example: “You can cross off the day after Monday”. Alternatively, once the children get the hang of the game, you can also make it a child’s responsibility to call out the instructions or use the cards at the end of the pack to choose the bingo calls so all children can play without teacher support.
